How binaural beats actually work
Binaural beats are not a sound in the usual sense. They are a perceptual illusion created when each ear receives a slightly different pure tone, for example 200 Hz on the left and 210 Hz on the right. The brain cannot physically combine these waves in the air, so it generates a third, phantom rhythm equal to the difference between them, in this case a 10 Hz pulse.
